Daniel Mortimer has handled his transition to First Grade with an almost astounding ease, given the pressure inevitably heaped upon one with such a famous Rugby League surname.

Since making his debut in the Eels round 12 loss to the Sharks, Mortimer has quickly proven himself up to the rigours of the NRL, scoring four tries in a series of remarkably level headed performances at five eighth.

The son of Bulldogs great Peter, Mortimer was a standout at Toyota Cup level during the 2008 season for the Eels, playing the bulk of the year at halfback despite being primarily a five eighth.

The 2007 Australian Schoolboy re-signed with the Eels during 2009 and is being looked upon as a long-term player in the Blue & Gold.
