The Dyldam Parramatta Eels are proud to have supported the inaugural In Harmony NRL Touch Football Day, celebrating the many cultures in the Parramatta District.
Joined by the NRL Multicultural Officer, Hazem El Masri, a group of teams with children aged 13-15 represented the entire globe through competitive competition of touch football.
Some of the teams included an Combined Africa team, an Islamic team, a Middle East team and three teams consisting of players from emerging nations including Vietnam, Egypt, Cambodia and Sri Lanka.
The Game Development Officers from the Parramatta District were also in attendance, and said it was a great to be working to grow the game through Touch Football.
It was great to see the diverse communities and emerging nations playing footy, and it was good to change it up from what we normally do working in schools, Eels Game Development Officer Ben Jack said.
It was great to see the emerging nations play, and to see the Islamic and Middle Eastern teams play in the final in the great spirit of the game.
The players all got involved through their schools and community programs, where they were able to represent their heritage and ethnicity.
