Dyldam Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur had 95 reasons to be pleased with his side’s 32-16 Round 4 win over the Penrith Panthers, but he was adamant the Blue and Gold needs to keep improving week to week.

“On the whole our defence was strong [tonight],” Arthur said.

“But the thing that pleased me most was our response in the second half: we completed at 95%.”

The spike in completions came after a spirited speech to the team in the sheds at halftime.

"They came out and responded really well," Arthur said.

“We’ve got a strong fan base and they want to come and see us compete and we did that. There’s plenty of want and desire here, but it’s Round 4 so we’ve got to keep marching forward, we’ve got to be better.”

Co-Captain Tim Mannah said the win came on the back of a strong effort across the park.

“Everyone made it easy for each other,” Mannah said.

“Everyone worked hard for each other. That first half we didn’t make it easy on ourselves giving them so much ball, but it definitely feels good to come away with a win.”
