Dyldam Parramatta Eels forward Darcy Lussick says the side gave away too many opportunities in their 21-18 loss to the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium.

Despite the roars of the 50,668 people in the stands, Lussick says they weren’t prepared for the Tigers’ energy.

“They came out with energy in the first half and we had to match them; I think we were down a bit in the first half,” he said.

“But we just let ourselves down with too many dropped balls, gifting them a few tries.”

Lussick says it’s disappointing given the work they put in - but let the game get away from them.

“We sort of let ourselves down a bit there and we let a few opportunities pass us, and obviously didn’t play our best,” he said.

“We came back at the end there but the Tigers were too good for us tonight.”

With the crowd the highest Eels home game crowd in 50 years, Lussick says to have the extra support from the Blue and Gold army was incredible - despite not getting the desired result.

“It was actually hard to hear at times; 50,000 [is a number] you’d be happy with for a finals game, so to get a regular season match at that is pretty special,” he said.
