Dyldam Parramatta Eels forward Darcy Lussick says a controversial disallowed try to Will Hopoate in the Eels' Round 7 match didn't cost the Blue and Gold the game, but he admits maximising penalties has become part of the game.

“I don’t think it cost us the game,” Lussick said.

“We had enough opportunities there to close out the game, and we scored that try afterwards.”

“We see it most weekends: players stay down to get a penalty, players fall down if there’s a [possible] try.”

“It’s a little bit disappointing how players get rewarded for a dive these days. Sometimes it ends up being a no-try when I don’t think it should be.”

“People just do anything they can to win.”

And when it came to the crowd at the Easter Monday match-up between the Blue and Gold and the Wests Tigers, Lussick said the atmosphere at ANZ Stadium was incredible.

“It was pretty amazing playing in front of 50,000 just for a regular season game,” Lussick said.

“All the Parra fans and all the Tigers fans came out for it and hopefully they had a good day.”

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels next challenge is the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday, April 26, at 1300SMILES Stadium in Townsville. Click through for details on our Townsville open training session!
