Head Coach Brad Arthur says the Dyldam Parramatta Eels are looking to restore some confidence following a testing five weeks of the NRL Telstra Premiership season.

Arthur says while injuries have challenged his young squad, the Eels’ chances of playing finals football still rest squarely in their own hands as they prepare to take on the Gold Coast Titans on Saturday in Round 22.

“It’s a very important game, not so much for where we sit on the table, but just to get a bit of confidence back.”

“Our depth has been tested a bit, our boys have been thrown a lot in every game, and maybe a bit of fatigue has set in but there are no excuses.”

“Every team goes through injuries, we’ve got to find a way to capitalise on a few opportunities that we’ve been creating.”

“I thought our forwards were very physical [last week], the challenge for them now is to repeat that and maybe for our edges to get their hand on the ball a bit better.”

And while rumours have been swirling around Sea Eagles players looking to move on from the club, Arthur says player movement is not part of his preparation for the next Eels match.

“I’m happy with the squad we’ve got,” Arthur said.

“Our priority is to win a game of footy tomorrow.”
