Dyldam Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur has praised his side’s composure in their 22-12 win over the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles to keep their finals hopes alive.

Trailing 12-0 at halftime, the home side mounted a 22-point comeback to seal the win in front of a vocal Blue and Gold Army.

“I think we matured as a team tonight,” Arthur said.

“The way we defended and stayed composed, after Chrissy’s (Chris Sandow’s) try was disallowed they didn’t drop their heads.”

“We don’t have a lot of experience but the experience we do have in Jarryd and Timmy were able to keep the boys calm.”

“And our two halves, they stood up tonight and played a good, disciplined, controlled game. We just managed to keep turning them away in the second half.”

The Eels forward pack were solid against the Sea Eagles enforcers, and Arthur pointed to his hookr, Isaac De Gois, as key in helping the Eels get their roll on.

“I don’t like to single players out but I think Isaac De Gois was outstanding tonight, I think that was probably the game of his career tonight.”

“He was really good and he led the way for our forwards.”

And while the Eels came away with a crowd-pleaser of a victory, Arthur was adamant there’s still work to do for his young side.

“Even in the first half, still we gave ourselves a chance, kicked long, turned ‘em around. We just didn’t execute as well as we should have.”

“We’ve got plenty of areas we we can be better in our own game.”
