Dyldam Parramatta Eels centre Ryan Morgan is wary of the danger presented by a Canberra Raiders side with nothing to play for ahead of Saturday’s must-win clash.
“I suppose we just have to do our job out there this week and let the result take care of itself,” Morgan said.
“It’s definitely do-or-die if we want to make finals.”
Parramatta will be travelling to GIO Stadium to take on the Raiders, who have been impressive in their last two matches against the Cronulla Sharks and Wests Tigers.
“They have nothing to lose so they are just going to do what they can and they are definitely the danger side,” Morgan said.
With Parramatta and Canberra last facing off only a month ago in Darwin, Morgan says that for a team who struggles with consistency they can produce some good football.
“They were impressive up there [in Darwin],” he said.
“They took us down to the wire and it took us a little bit of brilliance to get us home, so it was a good game.”
The Blue and Gold has been hard at work in training this week, focusing on defensive plays, working as a unit for the entire 80 minutes and rediscovering their winning form.
“We’ve had a massive emphasis on it (defence) at training this week and we spoke about the points that we conceded and that’s just not good enough.”
“We were going to be a top eight side and that just not good enough, so we need to restore some pride in our jersey,” Morgan said.
“We’ve got to aim up and we’ve got to aim up all across the park and if we want to play finals footy, then it’s got to happen this week.”
