Several Parramatta Eels legends will be taking part in a Charity Touch Football Game against a range of Australian local radio and TV celebrities for the Parramatta Mission at Pirtek Stadium on Saturday, 6th December 2014.
The Charity Touch Football game will form part of a Family Fun Day, where all money raised from the event will go to the Parramatta Mission Meals Plus Community Outreach Program.
Meals Plus Community Outreach Program is a day centre in Parramatta that provides basic needs including breakfast and lunch 5 days per week, as well as shower and washing facilities and food parcels to support homeless or disadvantaged people.
Parramatta Mission ambassador and Blue and Gold fan Jay Huxley will be taking part in the day and is excited about taking the field with some Eels legends (Nathan Cayless, Nathan Hindmarsh and Ben Smith) he loves.
“I have followed them through thick and thin. I still have my 1981 jersey!
Last year was a great highlight. It was such a positive return after a couple of tough years and I think things are looking up,” Huxley said.
“My heart rate gets up watching 80 minutes of football. I’m going to be in a lot of strife!”
“We will see how we go, but I’m hoping that the adrenaline will kick in and pull me through.”
Huxley has a good relationship with a few of the Blue and Gold squad who have attended his restaurant and the Eels fan wasn’t afraid of the challenge ahead.
“The boys have been eating me out of house and home, particularly Darcy Lussick who can pack a meal away!” Huxley joked.
“I hope the bulk he has been putting on over the offseason has been in the right spots. As well as the 1 kilo of wagyu beef, he eats a couple of desserts aswell!”
Huxley also singled out Nathan Hindmarsh who will have to be on his toes for the clash.
“Hindy, that job you did on me in Darwin, I’m coming to get you. I’ve got your number.”
“Look touch football can be rough. I mean, accidents happen so we will see what happens!”
