Dyldam Parramatta Eels assistant coach Steve Murphy says the Eels will be expecting dangers across the park when they take on the Brisbane Broncos tonight at Suncorp Stadium.

Broncos coach Wayne Bennett confirmed on Friday that Justin Hodges would be a late inclusion to the Brisbane side, and Murphy says the experienced back will be a threat from acting half.

“He’s a quality player, an Australian representative:  done everything in the game at the highest level,” Murphy said.

“We’ll have to be on alert when he goes to dummy half and when he has involvements.”

“They’re an outstanding football team, and they do all the little things well,” he added.

“Their halves have been in outstanding form, [Andrew] McCullough as well. They’re a threat from acting half, and they’re a threat in the halves as well.”

“Sam Thaiday’s been leading from the front, and [Corey] Parker’s got offloads in the middle.”

“We’ve been inconsistent and we can’t hide from that: we’re looking to atone this week against quality opposition.”

Heavy rain and strong winds during the week in Sydney didn’t disrupt the Blue and Gold’s fieldwork sessions in Parramatta, as they prepared to face the top-three Broncos.

“Our preparation’s been great; it’s been faultless and seamless,” Murphy said.

“We’ve prepared great given the conditions, we’ve just got to go and execute it on the day.”

The Eels kick off their Anzac Day game against the Brisbane Broncos at 8pm tonight at Suncorp Stadium.
