Dyldam Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur has given his thoughts on what cost the Eels at Suncorp Stadium in their Anzac Day clash against the Brisbane Broncos.
The Eels suffered a 28-16 defeat and Arthur put it down to the Eels lack of concentration and focus to playing the full 80 minutes; issues that have previously cost the Blue and Gold in 2015.
"Concentration lapses. One tackle or a five second period that's what cost us," Arthur said after the game.
"We drop the ball, they pick it up and score. We put a kick in with three minutes to go, we were only six points behind and whether or scored or not we won't know, but you get one person that doesn't want to chase."
"It's individuals at times having a concentration lapse that hurt us, and that's what hurt us tonight." Arthur added.
"It can be a bit of inexperience but it's about us being focused, staying switched on for the full time we are on the field, whether you play 40 minutes or 80 minutes."
The Eels have next week off with the NRL Representative Round, and will return to action when they take on the Melbourne Storm at Pirtek Stadium on May 10, however Arthur said he would of preffered his side to be back in action next week.
"After a loss you want to straight back out there, so it's going to be a long two weeks now," Arthur said.
"You want to get straight back out there and make up for tonight's disappointment."
"We done well to stay in the game with three minutes to go and we tried hard but we have to try harder. You can't keep getting close and being close."
"We have to be better and we have to do more to try and turn the result."
