Dyldam Parramatta Eels and Wentworthville Magpies outside back Fabian Goodall has celebrated Fiji’s 22-10 victory over Papau New Guinea at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday night (2 May 2015) crossing for a four pointer to seal the victory.

The opportunity for Goodall to represent his country has always been just a dream, however he was able to fulfil it over the weekend.

“It was a proud moment for myself,” Goodall said of the representative honours.

“I have dreamt about playing for my country for a long time now and after taking in this week, it has been a really good experience.”

The week long camp was something Goodall treasured, given the opportunity to meet and bond with his new teammates.

“The camp was pretty fun. It was a fun week and we got up to a lot of team bonding plus a couple of times we went to Petero Civoniceva’s awards nights and that was a good night for the fans there.”

Match Report and Highlights

The Fiji side featured plenty of NRL First Grades including outside backs Eto Nabuli, Kevin Naiqama and Marika Koroibete and the Eels outside back was grateful to learn his teammates.

“The Fiji side was a really good bunch of blokes and they really took me under their wing,” Goodall said.

“I was able to take it all in and learn a lot from them so they were really good for me.”

Playing in front of a vocal crowd on the Gold Coast, Goodall was pleased to see plenty of Fijian support.

"It is always really good to see fans in the Gold Coast, especially the Fijian supporters as well knowing that we have a big family out there supporting us.”

PNG were finishing the game strong and looked to be mounting a comeback, however a 60m intercept from Goodall halted their comeback.

“Credit to the boys. PNG kept coming at us, and they are some strong blokes, but in the end our forwards and middles did the work and it just came off in the end.”

Goodall will return to the NSW Cup for Wentworthville Magpies this weekend, hopeful to take back his learnings and experience gained throughout the week.

“It just comes to me being consistent now and the week has taught me a lot so hopefully I can take it in to Wenty this week.”
