The Dyldam Parramatta Eels take on the Penrith Panthers at Pepper Stadium tonight, for their Round 12 clash, and Eels Assistant Coach Steve Murphy says the Blue and Gold will head into their clash with plenty of confidence despite not coming away with the results the past few weeks.

In our Game Day Preview, brought to you by Unibet, Murphy says the clash is an important one and their upcoming performance is one which the Eels have been building towards.

“Another important game for us. We can’t be focused on the result at the moment,” Murphy said.

“We have to make sure we are performing everything at the highest level and the results will take care of themselves,” he said.

“That is easier said and done but there is improvement in us at the moment and if we continue along that line we will get the result we are after.”

The Panthers currently sit eighth on the ladder and Murphy says the Eels have been working hard off the field and will be ready to topple the quality opposition.

“Panthers are a quality opposition. They all are at this level, but we have been taking it to the top quality teams,” Murphy said after the Eels recent performances against the Warriors and Rabbitohs.

“We just need to make sure we get the results we need after 80 minutes. If we keep working really hard, which the boys have been, their effort has been fantastic at training every day; it will show in our performances very soon.”

Whilst the Panthers are coming off the bye, Murphy said the Eels will come into this game with plenty of confidence after some match hardened performances.

“They had a bye but we are match hardened and played against the Premiers last week, so we will go into this game with plenty of confidence,” Murphy said.

“We won’t be taking a backwards step tonight.”

Where will the game be won? Murphy gave his run down of the clash.

“They have plenty of ball movement and plenty of players in motion and we will have to make sure we are doing a great job defensively and work really hard from the inside, work hard from marker, line speed, all those little things” Murphy said.

“We are confident if we do the little things well, we will get the result we need.”
