Dyldam Parramatta Eels second-rower Beau Scott has labelled his move to his new club both a fresh start in his career, and an exciting time to be part of the Blue and Gold.
After a three-year stint at the Newcastle Knights, Scott will rejoin his former NSW Blues teammate Anthony Watmough as an old head and mentor to some of Parramatta’s young forwards. And with strong media attention already focussed on the club’s new recruits, Scott says he knew the scale of the Eels’ footprint in Western Sydney before he even arrived.
“It’s a well-documented club and I knew that coming here,” Scott said.
“And obviously they’re very well supported, too. That’s a great thing Parramatta have had over the years, plus we’ve got a lot of youth here as well, so I think that’s exciting for the club going forward.”
“If I can show the young kids a little bit of direction along the way, then that’s what Brad wants me to do. They’re a big pack, they’re a mobile pack and there’s a lot of keen kids there to try and impress so that’s a good start.”
For Scott, joining the Blue and Gold means a change of colours, a change of address, and a host of new faces at training.
“It’s a fresh start, a bit of a challenge,” Scott said.
“I turned up day one not knowing a lot of people, and it’s obviously a new environment but we’ve been ripping in so far.”
“And we’ve got a bit of a point to prove next year. We can create our own history from today.”
