Dyldam Parramatta Eels forward Danny Wicks says that despite the Blue and Gold out of contention for the Finals in 2016, the Eels still have plenty to play for.

With plenty of pride on the line, Wicks says the Eels will be desperate to put in good performances for the remainder of the year for themselves and the Blue and Gold Army.

“It’s not hard to stay focused now that our final hopes are over,” Wicks said when questioned of his outlook on the remaining regular games this season.

“We are here to do a job, and its about ourselves and our supporters now.”

“We just have to turn up this week and have a crack.”

“It is about turning up for the supporters and each other. We don’t want to disappoint and we are looking forward to it.” Wicks added.

With plenty of off-field distractions surrounding the Blue and Gold this year, Wicks said the side had remained proud and positively of the way they had handled themselves.

“When you are playing for the bloke beside you, optimism just rolls part and parcel of it,” Wicks said.

“If you don’t want to let the bloke down beside you, you just keep rolling with it.”

“We have said from the start there is no excuse for what has been going off the field, you can only judge yourself and your mates around you with your performance week in and week out. It’s about turning up for the supporters and each other.” Wicks added.

And with the Eels taking on the Wests Tigers in Round 21, and hooker Robbie Farah not named in the opposition side, Wicks said he expects the best from the opposition.

“We expect the best [from the Wests Tigers]. It is the NRL,” Wicks said.

“Am I hoping to see Robbie Farah there? Me personally, I hope he doesn’t play but if he is there he’s there.”
