Dyldam Parramatta Eels second-rower Manu Ma'u has tonight been found guilty of a Grade 1 Dangerous Throw charge by the NRL judiciary.

Ma’u appeared before the judiciary on Wednesday night to contest the charge, for a tackle on Titans half Ash Taylor in the 54th minute of the Eels’ Round 20 clash with the Gold Coast Titans.

The guilty verdict carries 175 demerit points, meaning Ma’u will now miss one week of competition and be unavailable to run out for the Blue and Gold on Saturday against the Wests Tigers at ANZ Stadium, and leaving an opening in the centres for the Eels.

An early guilty plea would also have seen Ma’u miss one week of competition.
