Dyldam Parramatta Eels fullback Michael Gordon says despite the Blue and Gold 2016 finals contention out of reach, the Eels are determined to continue putting in performances they can be proud of.

With six regular rounds remaining in the season, Gordon says the Eels do not want to toss in the towel.

“We were disappointed with our last game so I am expecting us to come out and play with plenty of fire,” Gordon said.

“We have had such a good season and we don’t want to just toss in the towel now so we still want to show we are a quality team despite everything that has happened.”

“We have built it up over the year, and nobody wants to let each other down,” Gordon added.

“It’s about having pride in the jersey and pride for yourself and your family. Nobody wants to go out and throw in the towel and finish the year off disappointingly.”

And despite the Blue and Gold no longer in contention of the Finals, Gordon says the side’s approach to the run home had not changed, despite all the off field drama.

There is still plenty to prove for the Eels squad.

“We want to show we are a top eight/top four team and the way we finish the year will show whether we are or not,” Gordon said.

“Of course there is what could have been but it’s all done and dusted now so there is no point worrying about it.”

“We had to move on a fair while ago so we will just keep doing that and finish the year on a good note.”

“We want to keep pride in our jersey and if we play the game like we want to, we will ruin a lot of team’s chances. It’s all about us not about anybody else.” Gordon added.

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels kick off against the Wests Tigers this Saturday July 30 at ANZ Stadium from 5:30pm.
