Eels head to #eelsterritory for NRL Community Carnival

This week, before the Parramatta Eels players arrive in #eelsterritory for their pre-season trial against the Gold Coast Titans at ANZAC Oval on Saturday 11 February, 2017, Eels staff and NRL game development officers have been busy in the NT community.

The Eels and the NRL have been running Coaching Courses for teachers and clubs in Darwin and Katherine along with visiting schools in the Katherine region (Casuarina St Public School, Clyde Fenton, Katherine South PS, Kintore Street Special School, MacFarlane Public School and Katherine SOA) engaging with plenty of students along the way.

The visit to the Katherine Schools is all part of the month-long series of NRL Community Carnival visits throughout Australia and New Zealand in February, meeting with fans and educating students on respect and diversity.

The Eels will also visit several schools and host Junior Rugby League clinics in the Parramatta District as part of the carnival, focusing on the importance of respect, belonging and celebrating differences both on and off the field.

Check out some of the photos in the gallery above from the visit thus far.

Over the week, the Eels will continue their Community Carnival visiting further schools, a visit to the NTIS Eels Academy Training Session, junior league “Come and Try” Skills clinics and plenty more.

The Eels are in their fourth year of a partnership between the Blue & Gold and the NT Government, which includes an annual Eels home game played in Darwin (Round 14, Eels v North Queensland Cowboys, Saturday 10 June 2017).
