After being refitted for a fresh deployment, the HMAS Parramatta and its crew have been gifted the Blue and Gold Army flag by Parramatta Eels fullback Bevan French before the start of their Round Eight clash with the Penrith Panthers at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 22 April.

Crew members from HMAS Parramatta were on hand as part of the ‘Salute to Service’ round to raise the Blue and Gold Army flag and be part of the guard of honour before the Battle of the West.

The flag will be raised on the ship as a sign of goodwill and will travel on the ship throughout its operations around the world.

The HMAS Parramatta has been deployed multiple times to the Middle East and is set to depart on further operations later this year.

The current iteration is the fourth naval ship to carry the Parramatta name with its predecessors having participated in conflicts in Rabaul, the Adriatic, Lybia and Malaysia.

The Parramatta Eels are proud to have the Blue and Gold Army flag traveling around the world with the Royal Australian Navy and the Club thanks the servicemen and servicewomen, past and present, for their service.
