The Pirtek Parramatta Eels today officially announced the signing of Brenden Santi to a 2-year deal from the start of the 2014 season.

Santi is currently a member of the Wests Tigers NYC squad and won a premiership with the side in 2012.

A great defender who regularly plays 80 minutes, Pirtek Parramatta Eels Coach Ricky Stuart believes the 19-year old will be a key addition to the 2014 forward pack.

Brenden ticks a lot of boxes in regards to the type of player we want to build our club around - no nonsense and tough with a high work rate," Stuart said.

"Alongside players like Kelepi Tanginoa, Peni Terepo and Junior Paulo we are putting together a group of young forwards that this club can look to long-term.

In 2013, Santi was awarded the Players Player award for his performance for NSW in the Under 20s State of Origin clash and is a former Australian Schoolboys Captain.

This is a great win for our club. Brenden Santi represents the next generation of young forwards coming through, his junior representative CV is proof of that," said Pirtek Parramatta Eels Interim CEO Matt Phelan.

"This is about planning for the future, and securing the services of players like Santi and Nathan Peats is central to that.
