The Dyldam Parramatta Eels today officially announced the contract extension of Manu Ma’u until the end of the 2015 NRL season.

Manu Ma’u made his NRL debut in Round 1 this year, and was named man of the match. The rugged backrower played for Wentworthville in 2013 before joining the NRL squad for the 2014 pre-season.

The quietly spoken Ma’u said his teammates played huge role in his decision to stay and wanted to thank Eels Members for their tremendous support.

“I feel good - it’s good to have my future secured here; the club had faith in me, and I want to give back to them,” Ma’u said.

“The boys made it easy for me, and made me feel welcome; the boys, I love them.”

Ma’u says running out at Pirtek Stadium to the cheers of a home crowd for his NRL debut was an incredible experience.

“I couldn’t believe it, it was a dream come true to play NRL and finally pull on the Blue and Gold jersey.”

The re-signing of Ma’u should give Members and fans great confidence in where the club is headed according to Dyldam Parramatta Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur.

“Just like the team Manu is looking to work hard, compete and improve with every game,” Arthur said.

“He has been extremely committed this pre-season and I look forward to continuing to work with him into the future.”

Manu Ma’u was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand and his junior clubs were the Richmond Rovers and Marist Saints. The 25-year old represented the NZ Residents team in 2011 before relocating to Australia in 2013 with his young family.
