Dyldam Parramatta Eels Head Coach says his side needs to find a way to win after going down 22-18 to the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.
The Blue and Gold were pipped at the post by a last-minute try, and Arthur says it’s “gut-wrenching”.
“The effort was great and they tried their backsides off and I’m in it with them all the way,” Arthur said.
“We need to execute and do a few things better; we’ve got to find a way to win.
“Close enough is not good enough for us, we need to find a way to win.”
Arthur admit the effort defensively and for the full 80 minutes was much improved from Round 2 against the Roosters, but says it’s tough to lost in the final minute.
“It’s heartbreaking for the players and the fans, but at the end of the day we have to pick ourselves up and have a look at why it happened and what we can do to get better and make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he said.
“We’ve got to move forward.”
Co-Captain Tim Mannah agreed, saying to lose in the final minute is the hardest part.
“We don’t want to come to games hoping to get close enough to a good team, we want to win games,” Mannah said.
“We almost had it but we weren’t good enough to hold them out and we’ve got to be better next week.”
