Australian Cricket Coach Darren Lehmann has joined the Dyldam Parramatta Eels at training to learn more about the Blue and Gold’s training systems and meet Head Coach, Brad Arthur.

The two spent the day trading their experiences, as Lehmann observed an Eels’ fieldwork session, gym set-up and office operations.

“Brad and his coaching staff have been fantastic,” Lehmann said.

“It’s a different sport but there are obviously a lot of similarities as well. [We’ve been] looking at their weights systems, their GPS systems, their skill sessions, how they run their sessions how direct they are.”

“We were talking about basically what’s it like to deal with players; there’s so much outside the game where you try and help the players with their lives.”

And after spending the day with the Blue and Gold, Lehmann said he would love the chance to revisit Parramatta, as well as repay the Eels for their hospitality.

“I think they’ve got me the boys, they were great fun out there,” Lehmann said.

“The lads look like they’re enjoying themselves. They’re very aggressive, they like to be high scoring, which I love, so they’re an enjoyable team to watch.”

“We’ll certainly reciprocate at some stage, either at a one day game or Test match.”

In classic style, Nathan Hindmarsh also added his own suggestions for how the Aussie Coach can strengthen the friendship.

“Hindy’s asked for some tickets to the Ashes!”
