Dyldam Parramatta Eels recruit Richie Fa’aoso has today been cleared to return to playing rugby league, after passing an approval process with the NRL.

Fa’aoso initially went into retirement in 2013 following a neck injury, but received medical clearance to return to full-time training with the Eels for the 2015 pre-season.

The club has worked closely with the NRL and the Rugby League Players’ Association on his clearance and appropriate insurance and is satisfied with the outcome.

“It’s been a lengthy process, but this result is great for Richie and for our club and we look forward to seeing him return to the field,” CEO Scott Seward said.

“It’s been an incredible path for him to be back playing football, and he’s been extremely positive and dedicated to his training over the past five months.”
