Dyldam Parramatta Eels hooker Nathan Peats will undergo surgery this week following a recent fracture to a vertebra in his neck.

The Blue and Gold number nine sustained a fracture to the C6 vertebra during the Eels' Round 23 clash with the Sydney Roosters, and following scans and consultations with a number of specialists, has decided to undergo surgery this week.

Following the procedure, Peats will look to return to the training paddock during the off-season.

"Yeah, it's a tough way to finish the season," Peats said.

"I'm just looking forward to getting it fixed and being back training with the boys for next season."

"Thanks to all the Eels Members and the fans who sent me their messages of support, it means a lot."
