Dyldam Parramatta Eels new recruit Kieran Foran has this week withdrawn from the squad for the New Zealand Kiwis’ November tour of England.

The five-eighth sustained an elbow ligament injury during the 2015 season, requiring rehabilitation over the coming months ahead of the NRL Telstra Premiership.

Eels Head Coach Brad Arthur said the decision was made following thorough consultation with the Blue and Gold medical staff.

“We know Kieran is disappointed,” Arthur said.

“But he’s got a good head on his shoulders for a young player, and in the end pushing himself to keep competing with his elbow as it is would leave him in a position where he just doesn’t have a chance to recover from injury before the season begins again in 2016.”

“He’ll be working really hard from November on with our performance staff to make sure we have him ready to start a full NRL season without nagging injuries hampering him.”
