Dyldam Parramatta Eels half Jeff Robson has had just three weeks back in the Blue and Gold, since returning to the Eels earlier this month after being granted a release from the New Zealand Warriors on compassionate grounds, and the 33 year old halfback is loving his time back at his junior club.
Robson played 61 games for the club between 2009 and 2011, and has also spent time at the Sea Eagles, Sharks and Warriors, and the footballer credited Head Coach Brad Arthur for one of the major reasons of returning to the club.
“I am really enjoying my time back here so far. They are a great bunch of boys, really good playing group and they keep things light-hearted at training but train hard at the same time,” Robson said.
“When I got the opportunity to come back here, I jumped at it straight away because I know it is a great club,” Robson added.
“I enjoyed my time here before I went over to the Sharks and I really liked playing under BA when he was Assistant Coach when I was here last.”
“The opportunity to come play under him again and play at the club where I played all my junior footy at, I have spent a lot of time here and I love the place.”
Despite being at the club for under a month, and not exposed to the off-field distractions of 2016, Robson was not surprised by the way Head Coach had handled himself.
Robson had plenty of praise for Arthur.
“It hasn’t surprised me. He has always been really professional, straight down the line, tells you how it is and that’s what I really like about him and why I respect him so much,” Robson said.
“If he tells you to do something, you really want to do it for him. I’m just glad to be back playing underneath him.”
And when quizzed on his future, the halfback was open to pulling on the boots for another season.
“To be honest, I always thought this would probably be my last year but since I have come back, I have really enjoyed my footy so far so I won’t say that I will be hanging them up at this point.” Robson said.
“Being back here at Parramatta, I would love to stay around the place and be involved in the club whether it be in the coaching or welfare & education area.” Robson added.
