About

PCYC NSW is Australia’s leading youth charity, working in partnership with community and Police to transform young lives.

Established in 1937 as a partnership between Rotary and NSW Police, PCYC now operates in 65 locations around New South Wales.

PCYC’s programs re-connect vulnerable and at-risk youth with family, education, culture, employment and community. They develop skills, character and leadership; and reduce and prevent youth crime.

PCYC’s recreational and educational activities get kids active in life.

PCYC empowers young people. PCYC is life changing.

Eels Supporting Fit For Life and GRIT

Fit For Life is an early intervention program designed to engage youth ages 10 to 17 who are at risk of poor choices and anti-social behaviour. Through physical fitness, nutrition and social engagement, Fit For Life aims to improve overall wellbeing as well as prevent and divert youth from offending behaviours.

GRIT (Growth-mindset Resilience Intervention for Teenagers) is PCYC’s new pilot program. It focuses on prevention and the promotion of health education – building physical, emotional, social and mental resilience, to support the wellbeing of teenagers.

The 10 week program will offer a suite of activities that link physical, social, emotional, mental, and nutritional health. The program is designed for two age groups: 12-14 and 15-18.

Outcomes

Fit For Life aims to improve overall wellbeing as well as prevent and divert youth from offending behaviours.

GRIT will develop socially, emotionally, and mentally fit teens, capable of navigating life’s challenges.
