Terms and Conditions for Rising Women of Western Sydney Scholarship Application

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Applicants must be aged between 18 and 28 years as at 1st November 2024.
  2. Applicants must reside, work or study in the Parramatta LGA and/or show significant connection to the local community – for example, through sport, volunteering or other community-based activities.
  3. The Scholarship is only open to applicants who:
    (i) are Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents (holding a Permanent Humanitarian Visa) or New Zealand Citizens eligible for HECS.
    (ii) are not directly or indirectly employed by Parramatta Eels, City of Parramatta Council or Western Sydney University; and
    (iii) are not related to someone who is an employee, director or Councillor of Parramatta Eels, City of Parramatta Council or Western Sydney University. 
  4. Applicants must submit a completed Scholarship Application Form, agreeing to the terms and conditions, and all supporting documentation by 9.00pm on Sunday 16th February 2025. Applications received after this time will not be considered.
  5. Applications must be submitted individually; no joint applications will be considered.
  6. One application permitted per individual. If multiple applications are received only the first will be considered.
  7. Applicants must provide evidence that they meet the eligibility criteria upon request, including but not limited to, licence or passport and proof of residence, employment or study in identified locations.
  8. Scholarship acceptance must be received by Parramatta Eels within 7 days of the date in the offer letter. If acceptance is not received by the deadline, the offer will lapse after this date, and no longer be valid.
  9. The Scholarship recipient must provide an invoice to the Parramatta Eels, including an ABN, in order to receive the payment of $15,000, from the organisation. 
  10. The $5000 Western Sydney University contribution must be used by the Scholarship recipient for one or more education courses supporting the recipient’s career aspirations, either at Western Sydney University, The College at Western Sydney University.  The funds will be payable direct to the recipient’s tuition fees on submission of  the Statement of Account from the University.  The Scholarship recipient must enrol in the course, and remain enrolled in the course past the relevant census date, within 12 months of the winner announcement to remain eligible for the payment.
  11. The Scholarship recipient must provide the Parramatta Eels with:
    (i) a detailed budget for how they propose to spend the $15,000 Scholarship fund, within 8 weeks of being notified that they are the Scholarship recipient, and
    (ii) On 31st August 2025, an acquittal report, containing an income and expenditure statement of the Scholarship funds which demonstrates that the Scholarship funds have been spent on activities in accordance with the Scholarship terms and conditions, and the Scholarship recipient’s application. The acquittal report must include digital copies of all invoices, tax receipts and relevant spend tracking documentation.
  12. The Scholarship recipient must not make any changes to planned expenditure of the Scholarship funds without first obtaining written approval from Parramatta Eels. 
  13. The Scholarship is for one year and must be taken up in the year it is awarded.
  14. By accepting the Scholarship, the recipient agrees to reasonable participation in promotion of the Rising Women of Western Sydney Scholarship, including but not limited to media, speaking engagements and Parramatta Eels and City of Parramatta Council events. The recipient also consents to publication and use of their name and photo by Parramatta Eels, City of Parramatta Council and Western Sydney University in relation to the Scholarship.
  15. Applicants acknowledge that the information that they provide will be subject to the respective Privacy Policies of each of Parramatta Eels, City of Parramatta Council and Western Sydney University. Should the applicant require a copy of the Policies, they should contact the relevant organisation to request this before submitting the application. 
  16. By providing your details to the Parramatta Eels and City of Parramatta Council as part of the application process, you agree to receive communications from both parties.
