Biography
Originally from Dubbo, Dean joined Parramatta in 1996 after leaving Canterbury during the Super League war.
He was captain during his four years with the Eels and, in 1996, was instrumental in leading them to their Final Series appearance after 10 years in the ‘wilderness’.
A ‘tough-as-granite’ forward, Pay proved to be an influential leader as the Eels went through a re-building process under coach Brian Smith during the late 1990s.
He captained Parramatta to their first finals campaign in 11 years when the club finished third in the 1997 ARL season.
