Biography

Eric Grothe scored four tries in one match and had the distinction of scoring a try in every Test he played.

A Parramatta junior, Eric was awarded the Patron's Rookie of the Year Award in 1978. He was a member of the club's first premiership-winning side in 1981, scored a try in the Eels' 1982 Grand Final win and toured with the 'Invincibles' Kangaroos in the same year.

A lightning winger, Eric was known for tucking the football under his arm and fending off the opposition. His length of the field try against Eastern Suburbs in the 1982 Prelim Final will be remembered as one of the greats.

Eric played in all four premierships in 1981, 1982, 1983, and Parramatta's tryless grand final win in 1986.

Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002, Eric is a musician and recorded the 'Parra Power' song with Australia artist, Jon English in the 1980s.
