Biography

A Parramatta junior, Geoff Gerard started his career in the centres and was awarded the Club’s Rookie of the Year award in 1974.

After playing in the second row in the Eels’ first grand final in 1976, he toured with the 1978 Kangaroos, playing in the second row in all the Tests.

He moved to Manly in 1981 and was defeated by the Eels in the 1982 and 1983 Grand Finals.

Geoff was the first rugby league player to appear in more than 300 First Grade games having also played for Manly and Penrith. He was awarded a Dally M for his services to the game and spent two seasons as Penrith’s lower grade coach in 1990-1991 before joining Parramatta’s coaching staff in 1994.

Gerard became a director of the Parramatta Rugby League Football Club and joined the NSWRL selection panel in 1988.
