Biography
Nathan Cayless was an Australian schoolboy representative in 1995-96 while playing for Parramatta Marist High School and earned his first Kiwi Test jersey in 1998 in just his second year of Eels’ First Grade.
A star prop, he was appointed Parramatta Eels captain in 2000 at the age of just 21, becoming the youngest captain in the club’s history.
He went on to captain New Zealand. In 2001, Cayless was part of the club’s agonising grand final loss against Newcastle. He represented New Zealand in Tests and World Cup and Tri-Nations campaigns.
A one-club warhorse, Nathan played 259 games for the Parramatta Eels and captained the team to Minor Premierships and grand final appearances.
Nathan moved into coaching following his retirement.
