Biography
Ron “Thirsty” Lynch came to Parramatta in 1961 from Forbes after representing NSW in 1960. He made his Test debut in his first season with Parramatta playing against New Zealand.
A beloved son of Parramatta for a decade, Ron is best remembered for leading first grade to their first semi-finals appearance, and for scoring a freakish try in the 1963 semi-final against Balmain when the ball rebounded off the cross-bar. In the same year, he captained Parramatta to victory over the visiting South African side at Cumberland Oval.
He was selected in the 1967-68 Kangaroos, and appointed Captain-Coach of the Eels in 1970.
