Despite an impressive first up 46-8 thrashing of the New Zealand Warriors the Pirtek Parramatta Eels face a real acid test tomorrow evening in the Holden Cup when they meet the Canterbury Bankstown-Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium.
The halves pairing of Zach-Dockar Clay and Mitchell Brasington, who led the young Eels' side beautifully against the Warriors, will have to be on song against a Bulldogs outfit who are perennial NYC competition front-runners and also enjoyed success in round one with a comfortable 40-20 victory over the North Queensland Cowboys in Gosford.
Parramatta will be without a couple influential forwards for this clash with Kelepi Tanginoa elevated to play first grade and Frazer Masinamua ruled out with injury. This opens the door for Diamond Charlie and Daniel Alvaro to come into the starting 13, while Junior Paulo is the fresh face on a five-strong interchange bench.
Defence will again be the key for the Eels against a Bulldogs side renowned for its flair in attack, and big prop Herman Eseese will be a man to watch for the blue and whites after impressing on debut last weekend. It should be an entertaining contest between two sides who are extremely keen to post back-to-back wins in a very evenly contested under-20's competition.
EELS: Isaiah Mosese, Vai Toutai, John Folau, Connor Broadhurst, Takai Moeakiola, Mitchell Brasington, Zach Docker-Clay, Pauli Pauli, Luke Vescio, Daniel Alvaro, Diamond Charlie, Fred Junior Mauala, Jordan Latham. Interchange: Chad McGill, Junior Paulo, Joseph Ualesi, Tepai Moeroa, Jordan Grant.
BULLDOGS: Patrick Templeman, Dylan Rintoul, Ryan Wilson, Dujean Liolevave, Jon Sila, Moses Mbye, Jaline Graham, Josh Vaartjes, Blake Carter, Herman Essese, David Minute, Danny Fualalo, Jack Creighton. Interchange: Robbie Kamoto, James Ralphs, Makahesi Makatoa, Adam Elliot, Jordan Jammal.
Referee: Dave Munro.
