We're proud to confirm that Nathan Smith and Ben Smith are both continuing their training to remain ambassadors of the Back Dog Institute - and excited that Mitch Allgood will be joining them in the ranks.

The Black Dog Institute is one of four charity partners with the Pirtek Parramatta Eels, alongside The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Ronald McDonald House and the Ricky Stuart Foundation.

The Black Dog Institute specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mood disorders such as depression and bipolar.

Mitch Allgood says he's proud to be involved with the charity.

"I really wanted to help out, I've got a personal connection with mood disorders and I want to create awareness because a lot of people don't know about the help they can get," he said.

Part of the players' training includes learning how to deliver the INSIGHT presentation, which is a mental health seminar designed for high school students in years 9-12. It offers hope, well being strategies, help seeking avenues all while dispelling stigma surrounding mental health.

"We're going to go and speak at schools and appear at events that the Black Dog Institutes organises - to help spread the word that there is help available if you're suffering," Allgood said.
