Pirtek Parramatta Eels head coach, Ricky Stuart says co-captain Jarryd Hayne may not return for the rest of the 2013 season as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Its no good bringing Jarryd back at 95%. Hes an explosive player, says Stuart.

We dont want to load up his lower back, where he hasnt had as much football under his belt over the last few months. We dont want to load him up with 2 or 3 games of football and put the hamstring under any type of stress.

The decision will be the best for Jarryd for next year. Its not about this year.

Stuart says that the World Cup will be a deciding factor.

If Tim Sheens wants him on the World Cup trip for the end of the year, then well start working him to get fit for that; to get him some game time. If not, Ill make a decision whether or not Im going to play him again for this year.

In response to whether the hamstring was re-aggravated from testing it out, Stuart says,

We put a fair lot of work load in it to get to a position where we could make a decision for Origin and Nathan Gibbs then did a review of it

We decided to lessen the load on his hamstring over the next fortnight and then to bring him back in.

When asked about the side's performance against the Bulldogs for Round 20, he says he was impressed with the attitude playing for a full 80 minutes after a poor start.

Were playing as a team that is good enough to challenge the competition, Says Ricky, Its tough against a good team.
