Reni Maitua, co-captain of the Pirtek Parramatta Eels, has announced his faith that star fullback Jarryd Hayne will be returning to the field before the end of the season.

Despite still being sidelined with a hamstring injury, Reni believes Jarryd will be fit to play again in the final games for the Eels in the 2013 season.

Were all going through this pain together and hes a big part of that, Reni said.

"I've spoken to him yesterday, and I saw reports saying he'd be out for the season but I think he'll be back."

Maitua acknowledges the difficulty the team is facing this year, with the dream of making the finals now unreachable.

It is tough. Ive got a little bit of extra motivation that I wont be here next year. So I still turn up with the same attitude that were going to win and Im trying to enjoy myself as much as possible

Maitua says retirement was a serious option for next season, but he will formally publicise his movements in the NRL within the next couple of days.

Obviously its been a tough journey here with the club, but Ive enjoyed every minute of it," he said.

"Ive met some great people and I cant thank the club enough for the opportunity they gave me."

It must be tough for the other boys, but it is what it is. We just have to knuckle down for the next six weeks and finish as strong as possible."

With the mention of Parramattas upcoming match against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles this Saturday; Maitua shares his thoughts on the grudge between Mitch Allgood and Steve Matai.

Im friends with Steve and I've got no problems with him, but when were on the field were not mates," he said.

"And Im sure hed do the same for his team mates. If they want to target Mitch, theyve got to target another 12 blokes on the field as well.

In recent media reports about fellow Parramatta player Chris Sandow in regards to some personal issues, Reni chose this moment to proclaim his support to both Ricky Stuart and Sandow. With Chris Sandow left off the team list again, Reni says it is important for the team to support the coachs decision, along with the player in question.

Hopefully he gets that sorted sooner, rather than later and gets back on the field doing what he does best."
