Many supporters of the Pirtek Parramatta Eels may remember the sad story of Oscar Buhagiar, a six year-old fan who touched our players, staff and fans alike with his bravery as he battled neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Oscar sadly lost his battle with the disease in 2010; but he's not been forgotten. This year, his brother Cavan is raising money for Cure Our Kids by shaving his head - and he needs some donations to reach his goal!

This Saturday is the Kellyville Bushrangers' annual Oscar Buhagiar Memorial Day at Kellyville Park, and the club would love the support.

Here is Cavan's story:

My name is Cavan and I'm 8 years old. I love to play football, ride my bike, hang out with my mates and spend time with my family. I love to help people and raise money for Cure Our Kids.

My brother Oscar died from cancer three years ago, he was only six years old. We were always close, I always thought we were twins because our birthdays are on the same day, but he was a year older than me.

When Oscar got sick our lives changed forever. He spent a lot of time in hospital where he had chemo, radiation, bone marrow transplant, infections, transfusions, scans. I would visit as much as possible, we would play Playstaion, Play-Doh or just lay together and watch TV. Some days he was too sick to play but he was always happy I was there to spend time with him. When he was well enough to come home, we usually spent our time playing football in the lounge room, Playstation, dressing up as super heroes, playing in our cubby house or doing Oscar's favourite thing, breakfast at the caf and shopping!

Cure Our Kids were always there for Oscar and our family. We would go to charity events to help out & Oscar called it his favourite Charity.

Every year we have The Oscar Buhagiar Memorial Day, together with our junior rugby league football club, The Kellyville Bushrangers. It is an awesome day with all of Oscar's favourite things, football, cupcakes, fairy floss, slushie's, jumping castles and even Oscar's very own clown is coming along!

I've decided that on Oscar's Memorial Day, I'm going to shave my head in memory of my brother. I hope to raise $5000 for Cure Our Kids, so they can continue to support other families like ours. Every dollar counts so please support me, it's a great cause.

Thank You,

Cavan
