The Pirtek Parramatta Eels would love to say congratulations to Isaac di Francesco for scoring his second ever try for the Rouse Hill Rhinos over the weekend.
Below is a letter from the secretary of the Rouse Hill Rhinos: to Derek and the whole Rouse Hill club, it was a pleasure to have our Under-15 division 3 players be part of that moment!
Below is a letter from the secretary of the Rouse Hill Rhinos: to Derek and the whole Rouse Hill club, it was a pleasure to have our Under-15 division 3 players be part of that moment!
The Rouse hill Rhinos would like to congratulate the players, manager and coach of your U15 Division 3 side for their action at the end of todays game which brought smiles and massive cheers at our home ground.
You may be aware that the a player in our U15/3 side has cerebral palsy and has continued to line up to play rugby league, a game he loves, each week.
And although his game time is limited to the back end of games it does not dampen his enthusiasm. Teams will let Isaac Di Francesco run the ball up and will tackle him as he struggles to make ground and that is a great sight for all of us.
Today we witnessed what junior rugby league is all about, as with about 4 minutes to go - and the game basically out of reach for the Parramatta Junior Eels - Isaac ran on to the ball 15 metres out, and was allowed to brush aside some tackles to run round and score under the posts, for only his second ever try.
The roar was probably heard in the next suburb and all his team mates ran from the far corners of the field to jump on Isaac in congratulation, and the Junior Eels applauded too in a fantastic gesture of sportsmanship.
In a game where the headlines in junior participation are often about misconduct, it was a show of wonderful sportsmanship and willingness to make someones day.
Thanks again and please pass on our very best wishes to the boys and management of the Parramatta junior Eels U15 Divison 3, it was a great way to end the day at our ground
Yours in sport,
Derek Price
