As we celebrate Member Appreciation Round this week we're bringing you a series of articles written by our members about why they love being part of the Blue and Gold Army! From the friends they make, to being part of our great football team - all the reasons why they love being a member.
Read today's member article, written by Ricky - who has been a supporter of the Eels as long as he can remember.
When I think of the Parramatta Eels and why I support them, it comes down to a few factors.
To put it simply, I love this club.
You might ask why I do and whilst it's hard to explain, I'll try my best.
Essentially, I love this club for everything that it embodies and represents. Whether it's the essence of camaraderie from everyone at the club- be it players, fellow fans, support staff, event staff and all other members of staff; you're made to feel welcome and encouraged to offer your view.
I love this club because as a fan, I know that no matter what the previous year may have been like, the club is working towards a better and brighter future both on and off the field.
Whilst the year hasn't exactly been one to remember, from a personal perspective, I'll be back in 2014 and cheering loudly and proudly.
I keep coming back because I'm eager to see the constant improvement and development in players from all grades and how they adapt to the changing nature that is the NRL.
I come back to feel like I'm well and truly part of the club. I come back to passionately show my support among other diehard Eels fans as we ride through the highs and the lows.
I come back because the club is something I hold dear to me, a club that has allowed me to enjoy rugby league in its entirety and to immerse myself among many other Eels fans, making new friends and meeting new people along the way.
2013 has been a testing year for all Eels fans but the last thing the club needs, is for support to become wavering.
Instead, this is a time when fans have to get behind their team and a time when the club needs the continued support more than ever.
Where there are turbulent times, however, there are also signs of positivity moving forward and this is a reason why I - and I'm sure many others - are coming back louder, prouder and better than ever in 2014.
A positivity that we have a coach that means business and knows what is required to go all the way and isn't afraid to make the big decisions; a positivity that we will have a playing roster capable of performing to their abilities both with new recruits and existing fan favourites and youngsters.
Ultimately, I come back for one very simple reason. I love this club and will for as long as I live.
Remember, we're all an Eel For Life and Go Parra!
