Pirtek Parramatta Eels forward Junior Paulo says this Sunday's game against the Newcastle Knights will be a difficult encounter, with both teams desperate to finish the year with a win.

With the Knights playing for a place in the top eight, Paulo says he's looking forward to the clash.

"It'll be a tough game, travelling up to Newcastle, but we've just got to enjoy the last game," he said.

"There are a few of the guys leaving, so it'll be good to get a win and finish off the season positively."

After last Monday's victory over the Dragons, Junior says the mood in camp has been a fun one.

"Coming off a win is always a confidence booster, we've been training with the right attitude and we've showed that it turns out in the game as well which is pretty good," he said.

"Turning up to training there's been a real buzz and hopefully we can carry it into this week."

Junior says the side dug extra deep last week with Jarryd Hayne a late withdrawal due to a knee injury - which makes the victory even sweeter.

"It would be good to have Jarryd in the squad but the boys have really adjusted to the changes, and having a real go no matter where Ricky puts us is a real positive going into this week."

"With Ricky - it's a bit different coming to training with a smile on his face - but it's all good!" he laughed.
