Were excited to introduce you to the Dyldam Parramatta Eels new coaching staff for 2014 and beyond, all under the guidance of Head Coach Brad Arthur.
Peter Gentle is our first Assistant Coach weve interviewed, and he says hes excited to join the Blue and Gold.
Its been great so far, weve only had our second week of training, so were still learning a bit about each other and the other staff, all of us - there are a lot of new faces, he said.
Hes assembled a terrific crew with a strong work ethic and were all excited about turning this place around.
Peter says he got the phone call from Brad while they were both on holidays, but he couldnt turn down the opportunity.
Brad was in Bali and I was on a cruise on the Mediterranean, so we dealt by emails for about a fortnight, he laughed.
But I managed to secure a flight earlier and we sat down and had a chat, and had very similar philosophies and goals for the club, so it was a good fit.
After six years as an assistant at the Wests Tigers and the past two years as Head Coach at Hull FC in England, Gentle says hes excited to be back in the NRL.
Im quite impressed with the squad [at the Eels], obviously theres still a lot of players to come back from the World Cup, but the young blokes are all putting in and weve had a solid first week.
Hes also confident that the current coaching staff are the ones to lift Parramatta off the bottom of the table.
I think the people involved and the players, theyre reaching to get off the bottom of the ladder and start to achieve and theyre working hard and I cant see why it wont happen.
