We caught up with another Dyldam Parramatta Eels 2014 recruit, in forward David Gower.
After joining the Blue and Gold this year from the Manly Sea Eagles, Gower says hes been made to feel welcome straightaway.
So far its been good, the boys have made me feel right at home, and I knew Brad from my time at Manly and hes made me feel right at home too, he said.
Theres only a couple of weeks to go until Christmas, and the boys are onto it!
Gower comes to the Eels after playing in the Grand Final for Manly against the Sydney Roosters in 2013, and is keen to bring that experience to his new club.
It was great, being at Manly for the year around a lot of internationals was a big learning curve for me, and the Grand Final was a big week, he said.
Seeing the high pressure situations and seeing how the boys dealt with it is something Im definitely hoping to bring to the table here.
With new Head Coach Brad Arthur at the helm, Gower says it didnt take much convincing to join the Blue and Gold.
I know what sort of coach [Brad] is, and what he brings to a player and a team, and it was definitely a big part of me coming here, for sure.
Theres a good spring in the step, everyones buying into what Brads teaching and the boys are excited and looking to improve on the last couple of years.
With many players competing for spots in the starting side, Gowers set himself the goal of nailing a place in the run-on side.
Absolutely, to cement a spot either in the 13 or worst case the 17, and Ive got things to improve and I need to work hard and prove to the coaching staff and the boys that Im worthy of a spot.
