The Dyldam Parramatta Eels NYC side has been defeated by the Sydney Roosters 24-16 in a tightly-fought contest at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.

The Roosters were first to strike, through centre Brendan Elliot, and the tricolours held the Eels scoreless until a heavy storm front hit Moore Park.

Winger Fabian Goodall was first to take his opportunity in slippery conditions, grounding the ball in the left hand corner to put the first points on the board for the Blue and Gold.

But the difficult weather and an Eels error in-goal gifted the Roosters possession, and they capitalised with a barging try from prop Braden Uele, and at last, a four-pointer to second-rower Jakiel Mariner.

It took a cross-field kick from Ryan Matterson to send Goodall in for his second try of the night, collecting the ball in the clear to add another four points.

After sustained pressure not he Roosters line, an offload from John Folau on the siren saw Nathan Davis bring the score to 16-12 at halftime.

As the rain passed, the second half saw the score remain locked at 16-12, broken by Zach Dockar-Clay’s cross-field bomb, grounded by Eels winger Halauafu Lavaka.

A Roosters penalty kick let the tricolours hang onto a slim two-point lead, and lock in their victory with a try to Alex Thomas in the final sixty seconds of play.

Sydney Roosters - 24 (Elliot,  Uele, Mariner, Thomas). Goals: Hastings 3/4, Penalty Goals: Hastings 1/1
