Dyldam Parramatta Eels head Coach Brad Arthur says his young side needs to lift in defence over the coming weeks after their high-scoring win over the Sharks in Round 9.

While the Blue and Gold shone in attack, Arthur is keen to work on holding out the opposition.

“Our defence wasn’t good enough,” Arthur said.

“Moving forward, if we want to be taken seriously we’ve got to improve our defence. At times we were a little bit ordinary through the middle. We did some good things with the ball but we’ve got to learn that we need to play for 80 minutes.”

“All we’ve got to do with all the individuals is get better on a weekly basis, and there are still lots of areas that we need to improve on. 24 points against us is not good enough.”
