Dyldam Parramatta Eels centre Will Hopoate says regardless of Origin speculation, playing good footy for Parramatta is his first priority.

“It’s definitely the main focus playing well for the club and for the boys, that’s first and foremost,” Hopoate said.

“If anything happens off the back of that then I’ll happily deal with it, but it’s not in the forefront of my mind at the moment.”

Coming off a discouraging loss to Penrith and an admittedly bad game from himself, Will says there is plenty to improve on for the good of the team.

“Last week wasn’t my best performance and I probably shouldn’t get picked off the way that I played last week," Hopoate said.

"I’m just trying to improve every week for Parramatta: that is my focus and goal at the moment."

“There are still plenty of things I can approve in attack and in defence that will benefit the team."

With the thought of Origin looming, Hopoate isn’t fazed by the thought of putting on the sky blue jersey again, and says he is humbled just to be in contention.

“I never expected to be there at the start of the year so it’s very humbling, and I’m grateful to Laurie for allowing me to be a part of the camp,” he said.

“If it happens then I won’t decline the offer, but in saying that my focus is Friday night against the Cowboys.”
