The newest addition to the Hall of Fame, Nathan Cayless, has paid tribute to his family, teammates, and club at the Dyldam Parramatta Eels Hall of Fame Legends Gala Dinner.

Moments after being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Cayless said the honour reminded him of the unique relationship he’s had for so many years with the Parramatta Eels.

“It’s pretty special,” Cayless said.

“There are guys up there that I looked up to as a kid playing footy.”

“At the end of the day you don’t play the game for these sort of things: you play it for the teammates and for the fans and the Members. They’re the ones that support us through thick and thin and I’m just so glad that I could be involved with such a great club.”

“My mum and dad made a huge sacrifice for my brother and I to move over [to Australia] and for us to make an even better life,” Cayless said.

“And we had to make the most of that. I can’t thank them enough, and my wife and my family and my kids.”

“It’s been a wonderful ride, it just goes too quick. You wish you could just go back and rewind it and start all over again.”
