The Dyldam Parramatta Eels are proud to be part of the Read with a Mate 2014 reading initiative through the Eels Educate classroom.
Partnering with Parramatta City Council and Holroyd City Council, as well as the Community Migrant Resource Centre, Eels Educate hosted 21 families this year as part of the Read with a Mate initiative.
The program focuses on encouraging fathers and father-like figures to read and engage with their children, learning about early literacy and brain development and the important roles they play in their child’s development, together with the use of Rugby League role models and themed reading materials and activities.
In two sessions in the Eels Educate classroom, the 21 families took part in reading-based activities, learned valuable reading & early literacy tips, modelled reading for their children, and promoted positive messages about reading.
They then came together on Sunday, June 29, at the Eels v Knights match at Parramatta’s Pirtek Stadium to celebrate their completion of the Read with a Mate program.
Congratulations to all our Read with a Mate graduates!
