Dyldam Parramatta Eels second-rower Ben Smith has paid tribute to his teammate Fuifui Moimoi ahead of the veteran prop’s 200th game against the Sharks on Saturday.
Smith and Moimoi are both fan favourites and stalwarts of the club, and Smith says Moimoi’s upcoming #foohundred is a huge milestone.
“With the longevity that he’s had at the club and in the NRL he deserves every accolade he gets this week,” Smith said.
“To even play one first grade game is massive, so for him to be in the game for so long and be as successful as he has is a credit to him, especially in the front row.”
“He’s actually one of the jokers of the team,” Smith added.
“Probably you don’t see that outside of the sheds, but he’s always good to have around.”
“It’d actually be good to have a bit of a highlight reel of his hair over the years!”
As Smith approaches his own 150-game milestone, he says his own perspective on the game has shifted a little, too.
“As you get on and get a bit older, you start to enjoy the little things that probably you overlook and take for granted when you’re a bit younger,” Smith said.
“So its good to get out and just play footy to be honest. The role I’m in at the moment is a bit new to me, but just to be part of the 17 now is exciting and hopefully we can work together as a team and make a run into the semis.”
“It’s exciting to see so many younger players coming through, so much talent, it really holds the club in good stead for the future so to be a part of it is exciting; It’s good to see the future of the club heading in the right direction."
